I got myself a beautiful French bulldog that I named Stella. She was a rescue dog and I am really frustrated that dogs do not have more rights to be treated with dignity and respect and how some breeders can get away with horrific behaviour. Stella is the most loving little dog I have ever had and probably the most stubborn....maybe not, Hamish was actually more stubborn.
It took me only 2 hours to outwit and outlast Stella tonight. I know she had to go out after dinner but for some reason, she could not find a spot to do it. As a result, I stuck to my guns and waited for 2 hours outside. I did not know I waited that long until the neighbour was going to the gym and I asked him what time it was and he said 9 PM. Wowza, I went out for the walk at 6:50 PM. I chuckled for myself but it was really nice to listen to the birds, watching the deer with her Bambi and just do nothing. Doing nothing can be hard but in this case of teaching a dog what to do it is all worth it. I don't think I need an obedience certificate to show others that Stella can listen and learn as I did with my English bulldog Hamish but it will be a lovely learning curve.
