How do you check in with yourself? I usually sit down, close my eyes, take a few deep breaths and ask myself: How am I feeling right now?
I read a lot about different meditation practices and how you should fit it into your daily routine. Sitting in quiet does that for me, I open the windows and I listen to mother natures sweet music, the wind, the birds and anything else going on out there. It brings me peace and I don't have to force myself focusing on one word for several minutes like some of the meditations are suggesting. This puts me at ease immediately and if you can't find the zen time at home go out in nature and sit on a bench and listen to what is going on in nature. You can see amazing results in a couple of minutes, and you could start with deep breathing to 'set the mood' which will help you to find that calmness we all want to experience.
