You don’t know when you are being observed: at your job, at the coffee shop, putting fuel in your car, there might be a chance that somebody is taking notes on how you do things in life. Personally, I take note when I get excellent customer service in a store, coffee shop or restaurant and I will become a return customer because of that. I know of an individual that was working at a gas station. He was doing an impeccable job at the full-service station and took great pride in his work. One day a black Audi rolled into the full-service area and he was doing the thing he is always doing: paying great attention to the customer. He filled up the gas tank and cleaned the windows paying close attention to the details to ensure great customer service and content customer. The person in the car noticed his outstanding customer service and invited him to Vancouver for an audition and better yet, he was flown over by the man in the car and the gas attendant landed a role in a major TV series. I assure you, a lot of people are looking for great customer service these days because it is such a rare commodity.
Taking pride in your work always pays off, and you can use a job well done when you go for an audition as well. The casting directors want you to be the one nailing the audition, they want you to be confident so they can hire you for the role which means that they can stop looking for the next person. The same thing applies when you go for a job interview. So get your positive attitude hat on next time you do something and do it with a smile. You don’t really know who is looking, but of course, you shouldn’t be thinking as if somebody is observing you, this is something you would be doing naturally so you can be proud of yourself at the end of the day. Be a star in your everyday life! Then you don’t have to work so hard to be a star at the audition!
