Make a decision, take action and then look back at that decision with awe. It has to be a pretty big decision as it has to awe you ;0). Every time I am hesitant in making a 'big' decision I look back at my time when I came to Canada as an international student with only two suitcases, a carpet and some other accessories I did not really need but I felt secure having them around me. Looking back at this event makes me feel courageous and in awe that I made it all work within the timeline and deadlines required. Having this event to look back at makes me feel very confident that I can do anything because this is not something I think about on a consistent basis, but when I do tap into that experience I feel excited and full of energy. I usually think about my weaknesses and buy into fear before making a 'big' decision. And it feels like a dream more than reality when I am looking back when I immigrated to Canada. When I was younger I did not think this event was a big deal at all but 20 years later I find it being a courageous event. Don't let your thoughts scare you, find something you did in the past that you find being a big deal today and use that energy to take a leap of faith.
Looking back to when I moved province over six years ago can be a huge event for some but when I am thinking about that today I do not think it was a huge deal at all, I just have to wait for another 14 years to make it an awe moment lol. So time does play a part in how we view ourselves and of course how much action we have taken. No action = insecurities. Let's say you want to start dating but you are too afraid to go online on the dating websites. It makes sense that you are a bit timid if you are not familiar dating online but as soon as you write up your profile, take a current picture and post it online you have gained confidence! Every little step you take will increase self-esteem and do not sit down and dissect your picture, just upload, write the profile, add your preferences and post it. Confidence cannot be built in a vacuum, you have to push yourself and take action.
