Make a decision, take action and then look back at that decision with awe. It has to be a pretty big decision as it has to awe you ;0). Every time I am hesitant in making a 'big' decision I look back at my time when I came to Canada as an international student with only two suitcases, a carpet and some other accessories I did not really need but I felt secure having them around me. Looking back at this event makes me feel courageous and in awe that I made it all work within the timeline and deadlines required. Having this event to look back at makes me feel very confident that I can do anything because this is not something I think about on a consistent basis, but when I do tap into that experience I feel excited and full of energy. I usually think about my weaknesses and buy into fear before making a 'big' decision. And it feels like a dream more than reality when I am looking back when I immigrated to Canada. When I was younger I did not think this event was a big deal at all but 20 years later I find it being a courageous event. Don't let your thoughts scare you, find something you did in the past that you find being a big deal today and use that energy to take a leap of faith.
Looking back to when I moved province over six years ago can be a huge event for some but when I am thinking about that today I do not think it was a huge deal at all, I just have to wait for another 14 years to make it an awe moment lol. So time does play a part in how we view ourselves and of course how much action we have taken. No action = insecurities. Let's say you want to start dating but you are too afraid to go online on the dating websites. It makes sense that you are a bit timid if you are not familiar dating online but as soon as you write up your profile, take a current picture and post it online you have gained confidence! Every little step you take will increase self-esteem and do not sit down and dissect your picture, just upload, write the profile, add your preferences and post it. Confidence cannot be built in a vacuum, you have to push yourself and take action.
As long as we focus on the outside connection there will always be an empty, hungry, lost place inside that needs to be filled. The source of love and joy is already within me. Connect with that source and you will never feel alone, and you can connect with your inside by reading a book, join a book club, walk in nature, do yoga, meditate, listen to your heart and intuition, pray or make amazingly wonderful brewed coffees for others. It is all about connecting with your inner soul and with other souls~soul connections! But remember all you need is within you. Keep it simple, but keep going until your find your inner light, the world needs to feel and see your light so please share your illuminate self with others.
Having good to even great self-awareness takes time. I went to university for four years to dissect my childhood and family history. That was a great experience but not everyone is doing it that way. I recommend reading about self-esteem, self-empowerment, letting go, personal development, people pleasing, psychology articles etc. in order to gain self-awareness and to find out who you are. I also recommend signing up for programs that may tackle something you have to work on and the shortcut to self-awareness is signing up for group work. Sitting in a circle and be vulnerable will be life-changing. I have instruct group therapy sessions and what can be done in group therapy settings can be life changing. If... you are ready to do the work because it is not a cake walk and if you do not engage in the group sessions you will not get out as much as if you did share your life story with others.
