A book to listen to while you are working (old but still relevant):

I am taking non-calculated risks in art. I am trying different mediums to see how they react to each other. This could only happen because I have been practicing a LOT, and gotten pretty good results. Would never have happened if I did not practice and committed to the process. I added some that I like and some that I am still experimenting on.
It was 28 degrees here yesterday and an absolute beach day. Tons of people were on the beach and people had problems finding a parking spot. People were running and walking in the bush but not as many as you would think if you looked at the amount of people in the parking lot. Most people were hanging out on the beach or on the side of the lake. There is always shade during the walk which is so nice.
I have read that intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence form emotional intelligence: Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman is truly worth reading (oldie but goodie). As per Wikipedia: “Emotional intelligence (EI), emotional leadership (EL), emotional quotient (EQ) and emotional intelligence quotient (EIQ), is the capability of individuals to recognize their own emotions and those of others, discern between different feelings and label them appropriately, use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior, and manage and/or adjust emotions to adapt to environments or achieve one's goal(s).” Daniel Goleman, grouped emotional intelligence into five categories: • Self-awareness is your knowledge about your internal state and about your preferences, resources and intuition. • Self-regulation is the ability to control your impulses, resources and state of mind. • Motivation is the emotional ability to steer yourself toward your goals. • Empathy is your awareness of others’ feelings, needs and concerns. • And the final category is social skills: your ability to influence others. Emotional intelligence can be a huge asset at work and lead to better work performance. A higher level of motivation at work will increase your optimism being at work which will improve your performance at work ☺. When I feel motivated I am more willing to start the day dealing with important but boring issues which will make room for any impromptu happenings during the day.
Having emotional intelligence is super important if you are leading a team or dealing with a lot of clients on a daily basis. You may be able to address problems sooner if you are tuned in and able to read energies fast. Anybody can improve their emotional intelligence and a good start is to read the book Emotional Intelligence. I am continuously looking for flow and freedom in life. I am getting older so I am making darn sure I have unrestricted fun! Being creative, as you all know by now lol, helps me feel deep flow and abundance. I feel rich in life when I am creating...not to say that I am addictive to painting but it truly is a satisfying experience when it works out.
I saw a couple of orcas when I was flying over to Vancouver yesterday. It is different to see them from above than on a ferry or boat. They look smaller and not as majestic as when you see them just a few meters away from the boat. But man are they beautiful and amazing. I can get lost looking at the ocean for hours. While waiting for the float plane I saw some crows chasing away an eagle from the crows nest. The crows are protecting their eggs from being eaten by the huge eagle. It is funny how much entertainment there is when you observe nature. One of the things I want in my life is more magic. Magical is the word and feeling I hold close to my chest and I try to find different ways to create an environment where I can tap into more magic. Today will be a magical day because it is Friday :)
This is the biggest secret of life, found inside the tomb. The quote is one of the seven principles of Hermes Trismegistus, author of Hermetic Corpus. As Within, So Without, As above, So below. It can be interpreted in many ways, yet, the most common meaning has been: As Within – what do we think, judge, express about ourselves and others So Without – will be expressed and reflected on the world we live. As above – As in Heaven – (Your own mind) So below – So on Earth – (In your body and environment) If we think good, good will follow; if we think evil, evil will follow. Whatever we think or accept (consciously) will definitely be the circumstances of our life. In addition, I also think it has to do with our subconscious and the frequency we are projecting out in the world. If you expect bad things to happen you bet you will attract 'bad' experiences so be careful what you think about and wish for. Self-sabotage is another ingredient in our reality. If things are all of a sudden going really smooth and you are not accustomed to that I bet you will self-sabotage to get back to 'your' old status quo. At the end of the day you are responsible for your life and what you experience in life.
Are you dribbling around in your mind trying to avoid negative thoughts like you are doing an obstacle course? I get a lot of ideas when I put my mind on mute which happens when I am active or doing something creative. Can also happen in the shower, driving and meditating. The main thing is to become friends with your mind and trying to understand the layers of your thinking. Treat your mind like your best friend because you want it to work for you!
Personal development and self-awareness can help to make your mind work for you rather than against you. Brutal honesty helps as well. Let me explain. When I am feeding myself with all kinds of excuses and I am not able to see the truth I know I have to take a moment to see what is really going on. If I want to resolve a personal issue I have, I have to take a moment to see what caused my reaction to make it an issue. I want to understand what caused me to feel insecure at that particular time and I want to find the root cause of it. Maybe a friend told me that I am forgiving people too easily and therefore letting them walk all over me which does not show a lot of self-respect. That feedback hurts and why it hurts is because it is true. Feedback is the best tool in the universe to work on your issues and a shortcut to find peace of mind and freedom from your negative chatter in your mind. The mind-chatter will cease when you live an authentic life and stop being fake. I can trace this issue back to my childhood where I developed people-pleasing behaviour and I just wanted to be liked by people which may translate to not having high self-worth. Knowing this information by being brutally honest with myself will help me work on my issues faster and address the bullseye rather than tiptoeing around stuff that will not improve my life. Receiving feedback from others is the easiest way to gain immediate self-awareness and to address your blind spots. It requires hard work and guts but it is worth it. Beautiful meditation for Mother Earth. It may take some time to get used to his voice and when you are this meditation is very calming and healing for all of us. |
